Week 4 Blog

I am having tons of trouble using this SIMS template and having it fit on the page.  Let's not even talk about the tk20 submission...can you say "hater"?  That is how I am feeling right now.  But here's my second attempt to share my latest template with my friends.  :)


SCHOOL VISION: To provide a safe and productive learning environment where all students will be engaged in relevant and rigorous coursework to prepare them to be productive citizens.

GOAL:  Offer a recovery school to help lower the number of failing students in Geometry.

So far, the results of the school seem positive.  Some of the students were able to regain credit that they had lost.  We will try this again next year with a few modifications. Interview Academic Achievement Specialist on how the afterschool recovery program was started.  Discuss previous interventions our school and district have tried.  Interview Geometry Team leader on how the school was conducted. Survey Students that participated in program – try to determine why attendance dropped after the first two weeks. Survey parents of students in the program to try to determine why attendance dropped after the first two weeks. Evaluate data of all the Geometry students who participated in the school.  Determine how many regained credit after participating in the school, try to determine aspects of why many did not regain credit. Evaluate data of all the Geometry students who participated in the school.  Determine how many passed the Geometry STAAR test – did participating in the school help make them be successful? Poll Geometry teachers who participated in the school to understand their thoughts of why school was a success or failure/need for improvement.. Offered recovery school once a week for eight weeks with a one week break in between.	Articles Collaborative meetings with team, inter-departments, administrators, and inter-schools. *Remember, the Action Research Plan is the framework or blueprint for your Action Research Project that may take several courses, and months, to complete. One of the major goals of EDLD 5301 is to provide this blueprint to assist you in implementing, monitoring and assessing your Action Research Project process and product.
